January 2016

The Drama State, a Kind of rock, Kind of Pop, Kind of fun, that´s how you could describe the in 2012 formed band from Indianapolis.
Members: Ryan Diskey - Vocals,
Ronnie Ish - Guitar/Vocals,
Mike Babb - Drums,
Ramsey Hall - Bass,
Eric Hewitt - Guitar/Vocals
With Songs like "Pool House Envy", "38th and Central" or "If Your Left Ear Itches" they hit up some thousand clicks.
We´d send them over a few Questions to let you guys know more about that talented and high Quality band, and here is the Q&A with "The Drama State"

1. You were formed as a band in 2012,- What was your motivation/inspiration to form as a band and make Music?
A lot of our friends were in bands and all of us had really felt a connection to music. A lot of us used it as an escape to our not so awesome home or school lives.

2. Your EP "The Quiet Life" is a 3 Song EP. Why did you choose that Name for your EP?
Our bassist Ramsey used the phrase in a conversation one day and it all really grabbed us. We’re from small towns so we’ve been told countless times that we can’t “make it” and that we are wasting our time. They would rather us settle down, work in a factory, and live the quiet life.

3. Have you planned something else like a small Tour/album soon?
We are currently writing for a new album. We are going to record it through the winter. Once we put the finishing touches on it we are going to get out and see everyone!
4. Where did you got be inspired for your lyrics and sound?
A lot of the Drive-Thru era bands like The Starting Line as well as bands like Taking Back Sunday. We are all huge fans of 90s music so it kind of naturally comes out when we write. We used to kind of stifle it, but now we’re running with it and just playing what feels right.

5. Your music is a kind of catchy Alternative Pop-Rock Sound, as we could hear on your latest release "38th and Central". Could you describe the process from the main idea to the finish Song?
Eric came to practice with the opening riff and we all thought it was eerie and rad as hell. We just built everything around that main riff really. I had some lyric ideas that he’d been holding onto and they just fit. It’s almost like the song wrote itself. We love how it came out.

6. For your Song "Pool House envy" you had a collaboration with AJ Perdomo, former frontman of the Band "Dangerous Summer", how did it come to that collaboration?
We had a mutual friend and had played with AJ’s band before. One night we played with them and went out for drinks after and it was just a really solid time. We asked our mutual friend if he thought AJ would be down and he said “why don’t you ask him” so we did and he recorded a killer bridge for us. It was crazy hearing him on our track at first because we all are really big fans of The Dangerous Summer.

7. Could you remember the most important thing during your Band history? Maybe your participation at the 2013 edition of the Warped Tour?
Warped Tour was awesome and definitely an eye opener but I think the most important thing during our band history is all those tours no one knew we were on. Playing to those empty rooms and other bands. That stuff can break a lot of bands up but it only pushed us to be better and appreciate every single person who DID come to a show and who are STILL coming to the shows. Whenever things get rough or we have a bad day we always have those “yeah but do you remember…” and just insert some really bad situation that we’ve been in and recovered from. That’s the really important stuff…but yeah Warped is always sick haha!
